Melita is a town situated in the southwestern part of the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is located within the boundaries of the Municipality of Two Borders and occupies a bend in the Souris River. To the west of the town, Graham Creek flows and eventually joins the Souris River. According to the 2016 census, Melita had a population of 1,042. The town is positioned at the junction of Highways 3 and 83, approximately 320 km southwest of Winnipeg.

One notable aspect of Melita is its reputation as the “Grasslands Bird Capital of Manitoba.” The town is situated in an area known as Manitoba’s banana belt, which suggests that it experiences relatively mild winters compared to other parts of the province.
